History of the Smart Phone
1973-Theodore George “Ted” Paraskevakos created the idea of combining phones with intelligence, display screens, data processing, and being able to access information like banking accounts.
1992-First cellular phone prototype was created combing phone features with PDA features by IBM.
1994- First smartphone (term smartphone was not used yet though) was created by BellSouth and in addition to receiving and answering calls was able to send and receive emails and run applications such as a calendar, calculator, clock, schedule, notepad, and even a few games.
1996- Nokia launched the Nokia 9000 which was the bestselling phone of the time.
1999- RIM launched the first Blackberry device which was a phone directed towards business use.
2002- Blackberry released the first true smart phone which allowed users to act upon information instantly and easily.
2003- Backed by Google the HTC Dream was the first smartphone to use Android technology.
2007- Apple released the first generation IPhone.
2008- Apple released the second generation IPhone which at a lower price ran 3G technology.
2010- Windows launches a smartphone that runs many famous Microsoft programs as well as others like Google and Facebook.
2011- Apple releases the IPhone 4S which fixed the problems with the 4 and included new software like Siri.
2012- Apple releases the IPhone 5 with a completely new design.
